People & Appointments: Google’s head of credit investments makes jump to private equity ESG

The latest ESG movers and shakers: Fitch sets diversity KPIs; IIGCC and ShareAction hiring for biodiversity roles.

Donna Riley Bebb has left her role as head of global credit and ESG at Google to become the first head of ESG at $114 billion private equity house Thoma Bravo. While at Google, she was responsible for developing an ESG strategy for the tech giant’s credit investment portfolio. She has previously held roles at Pacific Asset Management and PIMCO.

Fitch has set itself a target of increasing the proportion of women at executive and managing director level from 26 percent to 35 percent by 2030. The firm, which has a gender pay gap in the UK of 23.7 percent, is also looking to increase the proportion of ethnic minorities at the executive and managing director level in the US from 15 percent to 35 percent.

Kim Schumacher has left his role as lecturer in sustainable finance and ESG at the Tokyo Institute of Technology to become an associate professor at Kyushu University, working on a sustainability-centric sustainable finance research module. Schumacher, who holds a number of other lecturing roles, also sits on the Global Sustainability Standards Board of the Global Reporting Initiative.

The Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC) is recruiting senior programme managers for its private equity and nature workstreams. In other nature news, ShareAction has opened applications for a head of biodiversity and senior campaign and investor engagement officers on the topic.

Scott MacLennan has been named co-manager on Schroders’ £3.8 billion ($4.66 billion; €4.54 billion) global sustainable growth fund, replacing Katherine Davidson, who is leaving the business. MacLennan, who manages a European sustainable equity fund at the firm, will hand over responsibility to Nicholette MacDonald-Brown.

Rosie Farr has been promoted to specialist, stewardship at the Principles for Responsible Investment. Farr, who joined the PRI in March 2020, was previously an ESG Analyst at EBS Advisory.

Robin Goon has joined Chronos Sustainability as a research analyst on its responsible investment team. He was previously a research analyst at the Transition Pathway Initiative.

Ontario’s University Pension Plan is recruiting for its first ever director of investment stewardship.

Yun Chun Liu has left her role as an analyst in Sustainalytics sustainable corporate solutions wing to join the green, social and impact bonds team at NN Investment Partners as an analyst.
